TwimGo 3 1 1 available for Belle Anna all Symbian 3 And S60v5 Free Download

TwimGo is a Twitter client that appreciates pretty basic but for (just) its simplicity and fluidity of its interface.
The application, still in beta, is getting a little update and the developer has released a version compatible client Belle.

I think this is the only change to TwimGo 3.1.1, but if you see any interesting changes, leave a comment.

Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu MATE oooh-argh  and Ubuntu Kylin are among the official Ubuntu flavors to stick their hands up for inclusion in this development milestone.
The regular version of Ubuntu, i.e. the one most of you are waiting for, only takes part in the second beta release.
Ubuntu 16.04 Beta 2  is set for a March 24 release date.
For this bout of beta level testing the following Ubuntu flavors take part:
  • Lubuntu
  • Xubuntu
  • Ubuntu MATE
  • Ubuntu GNOME
  • Ubuntu Kylin
Not taking part is Kubuntu.

Whats New in Ubuntu 16.04 Beta 1?

Ubuntu for Android could be available this year but only for manufacturers

Ubuntu for Android could be available this year but only for manufacturers

Canonical developers earlier this year showed a surprising idea: turn a latest generation smartphone in our PC desktop using Ubuntu for Android software, which allows to enjoy both Android and Ubuntu as we need them.

At the Computex trade show being held in Taipei one of the heads of Canonical, John Barnard, said the development of this solution was ongoing, although neither he nor Mark Shuttleworth confirmed a specific date, saying that Ubuntu for Android could come "possibly" before the end of the year.

Of course, as already mentioned in the initial announcement of this development, Canonical has no intention of "liberating" Ubuntu for Android so you can use any interested: those manufacturers will have the option of preinstalarlo on their smartphones, so that at least in the first instance who wants to exploit the potential of this interesting concept will have to buy one of the terminals to come with that feature.

I do not think that means a lot: in forums such as the famous XDA Developers often achieve what seemed complicated, so maybe with a little luck that wants to impose that limitation Canonical look overwhelmed by the interest of the user community and that ability of some cibergurs Android community.

Ubuntu 14 10 Available For Download

Ubuntu 14 10 Available For Download

Ubuntu 14.10 is now available for download. This release doesnt ship with any new Unity features and it includes mostly bug fixes. Still, there are some under the hood changes and of course, updated applications.

Unity 7

Ubuntu 14.10 screenshots

As you probably already know if youve been following failsdownloads or basically any Ubuntu-related blogs, Ubuntu 14.10 ships with almost no noticeable visual changes: there are no new Unity (Unity 7) features, the default applications, even though some were updated, look the same and so on. Theres not even a new default wallpaper.

Even though there are no new Unity features, the default Ubuntu desktop shell did receive various improvements, especially on the HiDPI front: the lockscreen, Dash filters and previews and other bits were updated with proper UI scaling based on current monitor scaling:

Ubuntu 14.10 screenshots

Also, Unity can now suspend, shutdown, hibernate or start the screensaver when the screen is locked, using the Suspend, Sleep, Hibernate and PowerOff hardware keys.

And of course, Unity also received quite a few bug fixes - see THIS page for a complete changelog.

systemd status in Ubuntu 14.10

Back in February, Mark Shuttleworth announced that Ubuntu will be switching to systemd (a system management daemon for Linux). Marks blog article on Ubuntu switching to systemd, called "losing graciously", denotes that he wasnt very happy with this, and systemd will made it in Ubuntu mostly because Debian switched to it.

With this release, systemd is available in the repositories and Ubuntu can boot with systemd. However, systemd is not used by default in Ubuntu 14.10 because the transition from upstart is a pretty tedious task: many packages only have upstart jobs and they need to be updated to provide corresponding systemd units. Thats why its not yet known when Ubuntu will switch to systemd by default.

Linux Kernel changes

Ubuntu 14.10 uses the Ubuntu Kernel 3.16.0-23, based on the upstream 3.16.4 Linux Kernel. Here are the major changes since Linux Kernel 3.13, which is used in the previous Ubuntu release (14.04):

  • zram is considered stable with Linux 3.14; zram received LZ4 compression support;
  • stable support for Intel Broadwell CPU graphics (3.14);
  • the SCHED_DEADLINE scheduling class was added to the Linux scheduler in version 3.14 of the Linux kernel mainline;
  • faster resume from suspend;
  • EFI mixed mode support: 64-bit kernels can be booted from 32-bit firmware (with Linux 3.15);
  • various Nouveau improvements, including initial NVIDIA Maxwell GPU support, initial GK20A and GK110B GPU support as well as support for allowing to change the frequency of the GPU from the BIOS predefined values for nv40, nvaa, and nve0 clock types;
  • Radeon performance improvements through improved APU power management have been enabled in some APUs;
  • Intel Cherryview graphics support;
  • NVIDIA Tegra PRIME support;
  • Broadwell support for the Intel P-State driver (3.16);
  • various other improvements to audio and sound, btrfs and ext4 improvements, better support for newer laptops and much more.

You can read more about all the important Linux kernel changes here: Linux 3.14 | Linux 3.15 | Linux 3.16

Applications / packages

Ubuntu 14.10 screenshots

Ubuntu 14.10 (Utopic Unicorn) ships with Firefox 33, Thunderbird 31.2.0, LibreOffice 4.3.2, Nautilus 3.10.1, Totem 3.10.1, Gedit 3.10.4, Brasero 3.10.0, Eye of GNOME 3.12.2, Empathy 3.8.6, Rhythmbox 3.0.3, Transmission 2.84 and Shotwell 0.20.1. Also, Ubuntu 14.10 includes Mesa 10.3.0 and Xorg server 1.16.0.

Also, since the final Ubuntu 14.10 beta, GTK was updated from version 3.10 to 3.12 (3.12.2).

Why GTK 3.12 and not the latest 3.14? Well, thats because GNOME 3.14 was released after Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn had its feature freeze. As for the GNOME applications like Nautilus, Totem and Gedit, they are still at version 3.10 because they need to be patched to properly support Unity and with the work required to get Ubuntu for Phones ready, the developers didnt have time to update them for this release.

Other changes

Other notable changes in Ubuntu 14.10 include:
  • Improved hybrid graphics support:
    • nvidia-prime and gpu-manager now support GDM (these changes were backported to older Ubuntu versions, but without the GDM patch that allows this);
    • added support for "gpumanager_uxa" and "gpumanager_modesetting" boot parameters, so that there is an option to force NVIDIA Optimus systems (that dont work well with Intel/SNA) to use either Intel/UXA or modesetting);
    • allow RandR offloading even without bbswitch;
  • Netflix now works without any extra plugins in Ubuntu 14.10 (the changes were backported to Ubuntu 14.04), the only requirement being Google Chrome;
  • Pidgin comes with Unity support thanks to a new Unity integration plugin (can be enabled from the Pidgin Plugins > Unity Integration) - this includes (both are optional) Messaging Menu integration and Unity Launcher unread messages/conversations
  • Applications using client side decorations (header bars) look better under Unity with Ubuntu 14.10, but they are still not fully supported: for instance, CSD applications have no shadow, but at least the header bar looks as it should now and the windows can be resized.

Also, with Ubuntu 14.10, an Unity 8 ISO called Ubuntu Desktop Next is available a preview for "the adventurous and curious [who] want to get a preview of whats coming on their desktops soon". Unfortunately, I couldnt get Ubuntu Desktop Next 14.10 to work and Ive tried it on two different computers - theres a bug with the password but thats easily fixable as explained on the Ubuntu wiki however, upon logging in, the desktop didnt load in my test.

If you want to give Ubuntu Desktop Next a try, you can download it from HERE.

Download Ubuntu 14.10

Overall, Ubuntu 14.10 looks (and on a side note, its also basically just as stable) pretty much the same as Ubuntu 14.04 LTS so if you only care about that, theres no reason to upgrade.

Ubuntu 14.10 is for you only if you want to take advantage of the latest under-the-hood improvements and/or you cant live without the latest version of your favorite applications (non-GNOME core apps - because most of those are still not the latest version, though some were updated) and you dont want to use PPAs.

However, keep in mind that Ubuntu 14.10 is only supported for 9 months and after it reaches end of life, youll have to upgrade to Ubuntu 15.04.

Are you using Ubuntu 14.10 already (whats your experience with it so far?) or do you plan to upgrade?

Unable to load Deep Freeze Configuration Login Program will not be available

Problem: No Deep Freeze Icon in Taskbar and Shortcut key "(Ctrl+Alt+Shift)+F6" doesnt seem to work and got an error message prompting "Unable to load Deep Freeze Configuration Login Program will not be available".

To Solve This Issue Disable All Faronics Deep Freeze Services

You can done this by simply typing the command services.msc in the run dialog box. Once you are in the services window, locate the service name DFserv and right click on it and select properties (refer to image below).

After clicking properties, stop and disable the service. Refer to the image below for instructions. Note: Restart is needed for changes to take effect on your system.

After restarting, at this point you no longer have any Deep Freeze service or application running at the background of your system. Also the system Deep Freeze Icon should be gone. You are still able re-enable Deep Freeze by reversing the whole process. Note: You can now uninstall deep freeze and re install again.

Ubuntu Linux 16 10 Yakkety Yak Beta 2 open source OS now available for download

Ubuntu Linux 16 10 Yakkety Yak Beta 2 open source OS now available for download

Next month, one of the most important desktop operating systems will get a major update. No, I am not talking about Windows or macOS; I am referring to Ubuntu. True, from a market share perspective Linux-based desktop operating systems are rather insignificant, but for those in the know, Canonicals open source OS is quite brilliant. Its fans and users are very loyal and passionate.

Today, the final beta of the upcoming Ubuntu Linux 16.10 becomes available. While this version -- dubbed Yakkety Yak -- will not reinvent the wheel, it should offer enough to delight existing users of the open source operating system. Hey, if its not broke, why fix it, right? That is a lesson Microsoft learned the hard way with Windows 8, but I digress.

"Codenamed Yakkety Yak, 16.10 continues Ubuntus proud tradition of integrating the latest and greatest open source technologies into a high-quality, easy-to-use Linux distribution. The team has been hard at work through this cycle, introducing new features and fixing bugs", says Steve Langasek, Developer, Canonical.

Langasek further says, "the beta images are known to be reasonably free of showstopper CD build or installer bugs, while representing a very recent snapshot of 16.10 that should be representative of the features intended to ship with the final release expected on October 13th, 2016".

While there arent many new aspects, there are some significant changes. The Linux kernel has been updated to 4.8 and the included GNOME apps have all been updated to 3.20 and higher. The wonderful LibreOffice is now at version 5.2.

If you are ready to download Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak, you can use the below links. Desktop users will most likely want to select Ubuntu Desktop (Unity), but I recommend Kubuntu and Ubuntu GNOME too. Want to install Google Chrome on the operating system? You can follow our how-to guide here.

Ubuntu 16 10 Available For Download See What s New

Ubuntu 16 10 Available For Download See What s New

Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak

Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) has been released. The new version ships with Unity bug fixes, updated applications, including the GNOME 3.20 stack, an alternative experimental Unity 8 session, along with various under-the-hood improvements.

Unity / Compiz changes in Ubuntu 16.10

Unity and Compiz changes in Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak):
  • low graphics mode improvements:
    • reduced animations in the window switcher, launcher and menus (in some cases to zero);
    • disabled blur and fade in/out;
    • reduced shadows;
    • Also, even if youre not using the low graphics mode, theres now an option to to skip animation in the Expo, Scale, and Show Desktop Compiz plugins;
    • More about the improved low graphics mode in Unity 7, HERE.
  • bottom launcher:
    • properly decorate launcher/panel when the launcher is at the bottom;
    • Expo and Scale Compiz plugins now support buttom offsets, fixing some issues that were occuring when the Unity launcher is used at the bottom of the screen, such as the Workspace Switcher icon switching workspaces;
  • the top panel and launcher now have an outline in spread mode;
  • middle-clicking an app icon in the switcher now closes the app window
  • properly partially unmaximize a window when middle/left clicking in the restore button on the Unity panel;
  • scrolling on indicators should now work when Expo is active;
  • HiDPI fixes: the switcher detail view is now properly scaled and the xy_offset is now also scaled to make sure the switcher and launcher dont overlap;
  • re-added Animations Experimental, Animations Plus, Simple Animations, and Animations Addon Compiz plugins (these are available with the "compiz-plugins" package, not installed by default);
  • various other improvements and bug fixes.

Complete changelogs for Unity and Compiz.

Its important to mention that most of these changes were backported to Ubuntu 16.04 already.

Also, with Ubuntu 16.10, graphical desktop sessions (including Unity) are ran by systemd instead of Upstart (more about this, HERE). systemd was already used for system sessions in previous Ubuntu releases.

Another change in Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) is the addition of an Unity 8 session by default. The new Unity 8 session is optional, and Unity7 is still used by default. If you want to try the Unity 8 session in Ubuntu 16.10, select "Unity8" from the login screen:

Ubuntu 16.10 Yakkety Yak Unity 8

The Unity 8 session runs on top of the Mir display server, and is especially designed for Ubuntu Phones and Tablets. It is currently considered experimental on desktops and lacks many features to actually be usable for everyday use. For instance, besides requiring quite a bit of work pretty much everywhere, there are only a couple of apps installed by default (a web browser and terminal), applications (and scopes) can only be installed from the command line, and so on.

Furthermore, Unity 8 will only work if youre using Intel or Nvidia open source drivers. Also, VirtualBox is not supported, but there are reports that at least at some point in the past, it did work in VMWare.

Here are a couple of Unity 8 session screenshots I took under Ubuntu 16.10:

Update: for more about the Unity 8 session in Ubuntu 16.10, see THIS article (includes installing more scopes and apps, etc.).

Ubuntu 16.10 Defaults

Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) ships with GNOME 3.20 (and GTK 3.20), mixed with quite a few GNOME 3.22 applications.

Changes in GNOME 3.20 include:
  • a shortcuts window was added to some GNOME applications (apps that support this include Files, Videos, etc. );
  • Files (Nautilus) uses revamped search filters, a faster and more responsive search, a new, more compact preferences dialog, and more;
  • dconf Editor now uses a header bar, with a standard search design, redesigned entry editor, and other improvements;
  • GTK+ CSS theming has had a major overhaul, which should result in easier theme writing and more dynamic interfaces;

The Nautilus changes mentioned above only cover the 3.20 release. The previous Files (Nautilus) version in Ubuntu was 3.14 and since then, the app has seen many other changes.

Among these changes are a reworked places sidebar, a new popover for changing between views, zoom level and sort order, folder creation and file/folder renaming now uses popovers, the copy/move dialog is now integrated as a button in the Files header bar, and more.

Among the default applications in Ubuntu 16.10 are: Nautilus 3.20.3, Gedit 3.22, Firefox 49, Thunderbird 45.3, LibreOffice 5.2.2 (with the GTK3 integration package now installed by default), Transmission 2.92, Shotwell 0.22.0 (+ Git), Rhythmbox 3.4.1, Totem 3.22, GNOME Terminal 3.20.2,  GNOME Disks 3.22, and GNOME Software 3.20.1 (+ Git).

Under the hood, Ubuntu 16.10 (Yakkety Yak) ships with Mesa 12.0.3, Xorg server 1.18.4, Ubuntu Linux Kernel 4.8.0-22.24 based on the upstream 4.8 Linux Kernel, PulseAudio 9.0, and systemd 231 (+ Git).

Heres a very short (but youll also find links for more information) list of changes in the Linux Kernel since the version used in the previous Ubuntu release (Ubuntu 16.04 uses Linux 4.4 by default):
  • Linux 4.5 (more information: KernelNewbies | Phoronix):
    • experimental PowePlay support for the amdgpu driver for discrete GPUs Tonga and Fiji, and integrated APUs Carrizo and Stoney;
    • initial i915 DRM graphics support for Kabylake hardware;
  • Linux 4.6 (more information: KernelNewbies | Phoronix):

Ubuntu 15 04 Vivid Vervet Final Beta Available For Download

Ubuntu 15 04 Vivid Vervet Final Beta Available For Download

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta was released today, bringing quite a few changes, like locally integrated menus (LIM) by default, upstart was replaced with systemd by default as well as various other improvements and fixes. Lets take a look at whats new!

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Changes in Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta comes with quite a few menu changes. Firstly, LIM (locally integrated menu) is now the default menu type:

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Locally integrated menus are displayed in the windows titlebar for unmaximized windows, instead of the previous default Unity approach, which was to always display the menu on the top panel. LIM was introduced with Ubuntu 14.04 as an alternative to Unitys Appmenu (global menu), but its not used by default in either Ubuntu 14.04 or 14.10.

LIM uses autohide by default however, there are some new options which allow you to change its behavior. Most importantly, you can now disable the autohide feature for both LIM as well as the previously used default Unity global menu. This option is available via Dconf Editor: com > canonical > unity and enabling "always show menus".

Furthermore, LIM was tweaked and it now allows accessing the menus of unfocused windows, a feature that wasnt avaialble until now. Thanks to this, you can directly open the menu of an unfocused window by clicking on it. If you dont like this behavior, you can disable it via Dconf Editor: com > canonical > unity > integrated-menus > unfocused-windows-popup.

If you prefer the old default global menu (Appmenu), you can easily switch back to it, by going to System Settings > Appearance and on the Behavior tab, under "Show the menus for a window", enable "In the menu bar".

Yet another menu improvement in Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet is the addition of JAyatana by default - this provides AppMenu support for Java Swing applications:

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Other Unity and Compiz changes include:
  • Dash, HUD and the logout dialogs now work over fullscreen windows;
  • tweaks to animations for faster startup and shutdown experiences;
  • fixes for various problems that occur with the nVidia proprietary driver (mostly blank or black windows);
  • many bug fixes and small improvements.

Another change, not visual but a very important one nevertheless, is that Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet switched to booting with systemd by default, replacing upstart. This change affects Ubuntu desktop along with all Ubuntu desktop flavors as well as cloud/autopkgtests (snappy was already using systemd).

This change occurred on March 9 and back then, Martin Pitt said that the plan is to use systemd for a few weeks and if "there are too many or too big regressions", Vivid will be reverted to boot with upstart by default. So the final Ubuntu 15.04 release will most probably boot with systemd by default, but theres still a (minor) chance it wont.

Im using Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet for a couple of weeks and I didnt encounter any issues with systemd, though some users have reported issues with it, like a very long boot time, but hopefully everything will be fixed for the final release. What I can tell you from my test is that my laptop not only boots just as fast with systemd as it did with upstart, but the shutdown process is now very fast - around 2-3 seconds, while before this change, it sometimes took more than 8-9-10 seconds.

And finally, Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta ships with various theme improvements, like support for GTK 3.14, better CSD apps integration (though THIS bug still occurs) and more:

... as well as a new default wallpaper:

Applications / packages

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta ships with the following default applications: Nautilus 1:3.14.2, Firefox 36.0.1, Thunderbird 31.5.0, LibreOffice 4.4.1, Ubuntu Software Center 13.10, Gedit 3.10.4, Totem 3.14.2, Rhythmbox 3.1, Empathy 3.12.8, Transmission 2.84, Deja Dup 32, Shotwell 0.20.2, Brasero 3.12, Evince 3.14.2, GNOME Terminal 3.14.2, GNOME System Monitor 3.15.91 and Eye of GNOME 3.14.3, on top of Unity 7.3.1 (+dailybuild) and GTK3+ 3.14.9.

Here are screenshots with a few of the core GNOME apps that were updated to version 3.14 in Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet:

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Ubuntu 15.04 Vivid Vervet screenshots

Under the hood, Vivid final beta ships with Mesa 10.5.0, Xorg server 1.17.1 and the Ubuntu Linux Kernel 3.19.0, based on the upstream 3.19.2 Linux Kernel.

Vivid final beta ships with GTK 3.14.9 and not the latest 3.16 (and mostly GNOME 3.14 apps as you can see from the list above) because GNOME 3.16 was just released and Ubuntu 15.04 had its feature freeze on February 19th. However, at least some important applications were updated to version 3.14, like Nautilus (Ubuntu 14.10 has Nautilus 3.10), GNOME Terminal (Utopic has an ancient version: 3.6.2) and Totem (Utopic has version 3.10.1).

Also, GNOME Shell 3.14.4 is available in the repositories (and available by default in Ubuntu GNOME 15.04 Vivid Vervet final beta, obviously), along with the 3.14 version of GNOME Control Center, GNOME Settings Daemon, GDM and most GNOME apps like Maps, Weather, Clocks, Bijiben, Music, Photos, Boxes as well as GNOME games like Mines and Sudoku.

Ubuntu 14 10 Utopic Unicorn Final Beta Available For Download

Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn

Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn final beta was released today, this being the first and only milestone for Ubuntu Utopic (while for the Ubuntu flavors, this is Beta 2). Lets take a look at whats new.

And I mean "look" figuratively, because there are almost no visual changes in this Ubuntu final beta release. For instance, this will probably be the first Ubuntu release in which Unity (now referred to as Unity 7, not to be confused with the latest Unity 8 which is used on the phone) wont get any new features - of course, unless that happens in the month thats left until the final release, but thats unlikely.

However, Unity 7 did receive quite a few bug fixes and minor improvements and the most notable were related to HiDPI support: the Dash previews, lockscreen and other Unity bits were updated with proper UI scaling based on current monitor scaling. You can check out the complete Unity 7 changelog HERE.

systemd available but not used by default, improved hybrid graphics support, Linux Kernel features

With Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn, the controversial systemd (208) is available in the repositories, and Ubuntu can finally boot with systemd, but its not yet default because there are many packages which only have upstart jobs and they need to be updated to provide corresponding systemd units. Ubuntu will switch to systemd by default "when its ready", says Martin Pitt

Hybrid graphics support was improved with Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn and the changes in this area include:
  • nvidia-prime and gpu-manager now support GDM (these changes were backported to older Ubuntu versions, but without the GDM patch that allows this);
  • added support for "gpumanager_uxa" and "gpumanager_modesetting" boot parameters, so that there is an option to force NVIDIA Optimus systems (that dont work well with Intel/SNA) to use either Intel/UXA or modesetting);
  • allow RandR offloading even without bbswitch;
  • more.

Its also important to note that Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn final beta ships with the Ubuntu Kernel 3.16.0-17, based on the upstream 3.16.3 Linux Kernel. Since the Linux kernel 3.13 (which is used in the previous Ubuntu version - 14.04), there were some important improvements, such as:
  • zram is considered stable with Linux 3.14; zram received LZ4 compression support;
  • stable support for Intel Broadwell CPU graphics (3.14);
  • the SCHED_DEADLINE scheduling class was added to the Linux scheduler in version 3.14 of the Linux kernel mainline;
  • faster resume from suspend;
  • EFI mixed mode support: 64-bit kernels can be booted from 32-bit firmware (with Linux 3.15);
  • various Nouveau improvements, including initial NVIDIA Maxwell GPU support, initial GK20A and GK110B GPU support as well as support for allowing to change the frequency of the GPU from the BIOS predefined values for nv40, nvaa, and nve0 clock types;
  • Radeon performance improvements through improved APU power management have been enabled in some APUs;
  • Intel Cherryview graphics support;
  • NVIDIA Tegra PRIME support;
  • Broadwell support for the Intel P-State driver (3.16);
  • various other improvements to audio and sound, btrfs and ext4 improvements, better support for newer laptops and much more.

You can read more about all the important Linux kernel changes here: Linux 3.14 | Linux 3.15 | Linux 3.16

Applications / packages

Among the applications shipped by default with Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn final beta are Firefox 32, Thunderbird 31.1, LibreOffice 4.3.1rc2, Nautilus 3.10.1, Rhythmbox 3.0.3, Empathy 3.8.6, Transmission 2.82, Shotwell 0.20.0, Gedit 3.10.4, Brasero 3.10.0 and Totem 3.10.1 (and others), on top of Unity 7.3.1+14.10.20140915 and GTK 3.12.2. Also, Utopic includes Mesa 10.2.6 (but 10.3 is available in the proposed repository) and Xorg server 1.16.0.

Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn final beta ships with GTK 3.12.2 and not the latest 3.14 (and, as you can see from the app list above, mostly GNOME 3.10 apps) because GNOME 3.14 was just released and Ubuntu 14.10 had its feature freeze on August 21st.

As for the default GNOME applications included by default in Ubuntu (w/ Unity), they are still at version 3.10 because they need to be patched to properly support Unity (to use regular window borders and menus) and it looks like the Ubuntu developers didnt have time to update them for this Ubuntu release.

There is some good news for GNOME fans though: GNOME Shell was updated to version 3.12.2 is available in the official Ubuntu 14.10 Utopic Unicorn repositories.

Ubuntu Hardy 8 04 Package available for download

Ubuntu Hardy 8 04 Package available for download

A deb package of jpdfbookmarks for Ubuntu 8.04 is now ready for download at the download page. It offers a better integration then the general Linux installer in the Ubuntu environment. It also install the man page for the program that you can access as usual with:

man jpdfbookmarks

If you are an Ubuntu user you should choose this method of installation, if you already installed the program with the general Linux installer, uninstall it using the uninstall program in the installation directory, the command should be something like:

sudo /usr/local/lib/jpdfbookmarks/uninstall

then download the .deb file and double click it to install or use the command:

sudo dpkg -i jpdfbookmarks_1.2.1ubuntu0_all.deb

The package depends on a java runtime environment version 5 or later, so to install the package you first need to have installed one of sun-java6-bin, sun-java5-jre or openjdk-6-jre packages, anyway you can just try to install and the package manager will tell you if dependencies are satisfied.
