Tutorial Running Windows Applications in OpenSUSE using PlayOnLinux

Tutorial Running Windows Applications in OpenSUSE using PlayOnLinux

One type of document that is ofter used in companies to share files / documents to the other party is Microsoft Office. Application Open Office or Libre Office that is able to read and revise files Microsoft Office is very helpful process to share document, but sometimes Office files that are opened / saved by Libre Office or Open Office is not 100% same. Twitter in Ubuntu with Turpial

Twitter in Ubuntu with Turpial

I use twitter in Firefox using the Echofon plugin. Its nioce, but what about a native linux twitter client? One client that does come close to being everything that I need is Turpial. Written in Python, Turpial is fast and easy to use. And it does just enough it doesnt pack too many features, but its not bare bones either.
Lets take a look at how to tweet using Turpial.

Getting Started

First off, youll need to install Turpial. If youre using Ubuntu, thats easy you can get it from the Turpial PPA. Just open a terminal window and then enter the following commands:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:effie-jayx/turpial
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install turpial
If youre using another Linux distro, and feel like embracing your inner geek, you can download the source code from GitHub and compile it yourself.
Once its installed, you can start Turpial by selecting (in Ubuntu, for example) Applications > Internet > Turpial.

Turpial splash screen

The first time you start Turpial, youll be asked to enter the user name and password for your account. You can also click the Remember my credentials option so you dont have to do that every time you want to use Turpial. Then, click the Connect button.

Logged in

Moving Around

Thats pretty simple. In its default configuration, Turpial has three tabs: one each for all tweets from you and the people you follow, one for replies, and one for direct messages. But not everyone finds that view useful. Some people want a Twitter client that acts more like the popular TweetDeck Desktop. You can turn Turpial into something resembling a TweetDeck clone (more on this in a moment) and get a three-column view:
Three-column view

Readings easy. But what if you want to post? Thats not as obvious as it could be. You need to click the Update Status button (which looks like the Turpial logo). A new window appears, where you can type your tweet and, if you need to, shorten a URL.

Enter a tweet

If you want to reply to a tweet, retweet it, send the person who posted it a direct message, or open a link then just right click on the tweet in the Turpial window. Choose what you want to do from the menu that appears.

Interacting

Configuring Turpial

After youve used it for a while, youll probably want to change the way in which Turpial behaves. The default settings are OK, but theyre not for everyone. Modify the applications settings by clicking the Preferences icon.

Setting preferences

There are six tabs that let you set general options, which columns in Turpial will display notifications of new tweets, the URL shortening service that you want to use, the users that you want to block, the Web browser that you want to use to open links, and a Twitter API proxy to use.
On the General tab, for example, click the Wide Mode option to display all three columns, side by side, in the Turpial window. Or, on the Notification tab, click the Activate sounds option to have Turpial play a sound when a new tweet or message arrives.
How you configure Turpial will depend on your needs and likes. I turn off notifications and sounds, use the bit.ly URL shortener, and tell Turpial to open all links in the Chromium Web browser.

Final Thoughts

Of all the Twitter clients for Linux that Ive worked with, Turpial comes closest to being the perfect application. Its fast, its configurable, and its easy to use. It might not have every feature and function imaginable, but it does everything the average Twitter user needs it to do.

Types of installation in Ubuntu 11 04 Natty Narwhal

Types of installation in Ubuntu 11 04 Natty Narwhal

You can use Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) via one of  three types of installtion .

1- Installing from windows using Wubi installer
if you are beginner you can use this step because its very simple just get Wubi installer Wubi is Windows software that installs Ubuntu within a series of virtual hard disk files contained in the Windows filesystem. It then configures a boot-time menu so you can choose between booting into Ubuntu or Windows. If you choose to boot into Ubuntu, a clever trick makes the virtual hard disk files appear to be real disks. As a result, the user will be entirely unaware theyre not using a traditional partition-based installation, as described previously.
Using Wubi to install Ubuntu is just like installing some Windows software, and is equally risk-free. Theres even an uninstall option added to Add/Remove Programs. The only drawback is a slight reduction in performance compared to a traditional installation, and youll also find the Ubuntu suspend-to-disk (hibernate) power-saving mode doesnt work.

2-Dual-booting
If you intend to switch to Ubuntu full-time, installing Ubuntu by repartitioning your computers hard disk is best. This involves shrinking the existing Windows partition and creating new partitions alongside for Ubuntu. Following this, Ubuntu is installed and a menu added so you can choose between Ubuntu and Windows at boot-time. Having Ubuntu and Windows side-by-side on a PC is called dual-booting.
This sounds complex, but its automated via the Ubuntu installation software. However, theres a slight risk involved when repartitioning, so its very wise to backup essential data first.

3-Virtual computer
By downloading a virtual computer application, such as the free-of- charge VMware Player (www.vmware.cornjproductsjpiayer), you can install Ubuntu so it runs within a program window on the Windows desktop.
A virtual computer is effectively a complete computer recreated in software. It offers an excellent way to trial Ubuntu, although the limitations of the virtual computer software mean you wont experience Ubuntu to its full advantage (desktop visual effects wont work, for example). Additionally, youll need a powerful PC with over lOB of memory for optimal results

    Typing Bangla in Ubuntu

    Typing Bangla in Ubuntu

Many people often fall in trouble when it comes to typing in Bengali while using Ubuntu. First thing I would mention is that keep in mind that Ubuntu has the maximum regional support officially. Ubuntu has 2 keyboard layouts for typing Bengali.
    1. Bangladesh
    2. Bangladesh Probhat

The layout named "Bangladesh" is somewhat similar to "Bijoy keyboard". I am not sure about what are the difference, if you know plz comment to share.

Another one is the "Bangladesh Probhat" it is a phonetic keyboard. It is most popular for those who do not know any conventional keyboard layouts or those who type Bengali occasionally.

To set up your keyboard to type Bengaly first go to -
    System -> Preferences -> Keyboard

Then click on the "Layout" tab

The current available layouts will be showed. Click on Add

Choose your country "Bangladesh" and choose your variants "Bangladesh" or "Bangladesh Probhat".

    Click "Add"

Now click on the newly created layout and click "Layout options"

Select the key you want to use to switch layouts from the "Keys to change layout" drop down list. You can use "super" (or windows)if it is free. and click "done". Now you can start to type Bengali by pressing the specified switch.

Tweet From the Terminal in Linux

Most Linux users prefer to use the terminal for most of their work. However most non-geek users tend to consider the terminal as boring.
Well here is a cool way to use your terminal. You can post tweets to twitter from the terminal.

      1. Open the command prompt and enter the following command

      sudo aptitude install curl

Enter your root password when it is prompted.

      2. Now if you want to post to Twitter use the following command in single line

      curl -u yourusername:yourpassword -d status=Your Message Here https://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml

You will receive a response containing the XML coding for your post which acts as a confirmation that your post was submitted.

Ukraine Sees Bitcoin Investments Up 500 in 12 Months

Ukraine Sees Bitcoin Investments Up 500 in 12 Months

Ukraines Bitcoin investment figures have shot up 500% in a single year, according to Bitcoin Ukraine founder Andrey Dubetskiy.

Dubetskiy: Growth Reasons Same Throughout The World

The figures, which Dubetskiy revealed in comments to local news resource Payspace, represent growth from 500,000 hryvnia ($18,400) to 2.5 million ($92,000) hryvnia per week through 2016.

"The reasons behind the growth are the same as those throughout the world," he told the publication.

Specifically, distrust of national currencies, an unstable economy, asset movement restrictions, the shadow economy, little choice and regulation of financial instruments, demand for digital and global financial instruments, growth potential for Bitcoins price as an investment and many others.

Ukraine has become an active participant in both Blockchain studies and Bitcoin as a consumer asset.

Despite its recent turbulent political and economic history, cryptocurrency usage has been fostered or at least left untouched by premature regulation and continues to serve as an investment alternative to the hryvnia, which since 2014 has lost two thirds of its value.

      LocalBitcoins Ukraine volume up

Localbitcoins volumes in Ukraine have also seen their best times ever in recent months, with weekly trading edging towards new highs each week.

"Considering the general upward trend in Bitcoins exchange rate, the majority of customers are buying in order to profit from speculative operations, while some investors transfer a part of their assets to Bitcoin," Mikhael Chobanyan, CEO of local exchange Kuna.io, added.

Weak Economy + Bank Crisis = Blockchain

In a bid to bail out its creaking economic infrastructure, Ukraine was forced to nationalize main lender Privatbank last December amid concerns "panic" would arise if things were left as is.

"Other banks would not be getting their loans back from PrivatBank, a series of bankruptcies would begin, and there would be panic," Oleksandr Savchenko, head of Kyivs International Institute of Business, commented on the situation prior to the move being finalized.

On the Blockchain front meanwhile, a scheme involving the Central Bank to introduce the technology to governmental processes appears to be gaining momentum.

Q3 last year saw publication of a roadmap from the National Bank of Ukraine for its Cashless Economy scheme, which set out ways and deadlines for use of Blockchain in cases such as payments.

"The [National Bank of Ukraine (NBU)] Board has approved and presented a roadmap for Cashless Economy, which will use Blockchain technology in Ukraine for the first time," spokesman Konstantin Yarmolenko wroteon Facebook at the time in a post subsequently removed.

Elsewhere, Ukraine was the first country in the world to launch sanctioned Bitcoin futures trading on its national exchange. Investor interest was also given as the main motivation for the move, which authorities announced in the midst of the Privatbank debacle.

What do you think about Ukraines Bitcoin growth? Are you there and seeing changes? Let us know in the comments below!
