The day has finally arrived. Today Ubuntu 12.04 (Precise Pangolin) LTS will be released. Notable changes include:

  • The default music player has been changed to Rhythmbox
  • LibreOffice has been updated to 3.5
  • System Settings Appearance allows users to easier configure some of Unitys properties
  • Nautilus quicklist support has been added to to Unity launcher
  • ClickPad (as is featured in MacBooks) support has been improved
  • and many more ...

The new Ubuntu is supposedly booting very quickly and overall is very responsive.
I am looking forward to the release and will provide feedback as soon as I have upgraded.

<Update>
Apparently the Ubuntu Servers were down. I couldnt access their website and couldnt access the download-servers either. Now theyre back online and I am going to download the upgrade soon.

Upgrade broke my installation and I was unable to boot. Had to install 12.04 from scratch. Then I had some major problems with the graphics drivers. Ubuntu couldnt install the proper drivers, I then had to choose an alternative which caused my Computer to freeze about every 30 minutes.

After completely reinstalling 12.04 again (there were some other issues as well) it now seems to be working properly. No crashes so far installations seem to be working as well. Fingers crossed!

So all in all not that easy an upgrade. I just hope the 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS upgrade at work goes a little more smoothly.

Twitter Today Nov 15 2010

Twitter Today Nov 15 2010

Ive been busy these days playing so many freeware strategy games that Im behind my schedule. The last time I made a proper review was when I discussed Cursed Treasure, a Flash-based free tower defense game.

To update followers on whats going on in the PC gaming industry, Ive decided to launch "Twitter Today," (hopefully) daily updates on what PC gaming experts/websites are saying.

The very first IMBACORE Twitter Today after the jump (A guide on how to play a League of Legends hero! Tribes Universe! All Points Bulletin! Can you say "its raining MMOFPSs!"?):

This line is not shown in the main page

Tribes Universe - The Tribes series just refuses to die. After a slew of lackluster jetpack-based (and other FPS-Z) games, up comes the news that a new MMOFPS is being developed, this time bearing the name of the franchise. (Kudos to Gamespot member MatrixKing giving me a heads-up.)

F.E.A.R. 3 - Launch date revealed: March 22, 2011. The developers of Armored Core are manning the helm this time. Lets hope the horror PC FPS doesnt get buried under a ton of walking tanks designed like those of Mechwarriors.

Gamespots Call of Duty Black Ops Game Guide - "Full campaign walkthrough, multiplayer tips, and more." Nuff said.

IGNs The History of Halo - For the games 9th anniversary, IGN delves into the history of the bestselling franchise.

Gamespots Call of Duty: Then and Now - Gamespot goes back through time and compares screenshots of four of the best selling Call of Duty games: Black Ops, World at War, and Modern Warfare 1 and 2.

TenTonHammers League of Legends Sona Guide - The gaming website just released a guide on how to play Sona, a new "ranged support" hero in the RTS League of Legends (a PC strategy game made in the vein of Defense of the Ancients)

All Points Bulletin - This MMOFPS made waves this year --- the tragic saga of an overhyped game that flopped on its release. Now its even making more ripples across the gamingverse --- its new publisher is making the game free to play!

Ubuntu 15 10 Wily Werewolf Reaches End Of Life Today July 28

Quick Update: Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) reaches end of life today, July 28, 2016.

Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf

Like all non-LTS releases, Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) was supported for 9 months and this period ends today. This means Ubuntu Security Notices will no longer include information or updated packages for Ubuntu 15.10.

If youre still using Ubuntu 15.10, its recommended you upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04, which is supported until April 2021. For how to upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04, see THIS page.
