Tribute to Heros G H Hardy
Today is the birth centenary of G.H.Hardy, great English Mathematician.Hardy is most famous outside of mathematics for his "A Mathematicians Apology". book . The book, talks among other things about how mathematics is young mans game. He is also known for his association with Ramanujan and for being the person responsible for bringing him to Cambridge where his greatest mathematics unfolded.
Some quotes:
1. Asked if he believes in one God, a mathematician answered: "Yes, up to isomorphism".
2. "I have never done anything useful. No discovery of mine has made, or is likely to make, directly or indirectly, for good or ill, the least difference to the amenity of the world."
Wikipedia :
It is never worth a first class mans time to express a majority opinion. By definition, there are plenty of others to do that.
A mathematician, like a painter or a poet, is a maker of patterns. If his patterns are more permanent than theirs, it is because they are made with ideas.
Quoting one of the mathematicians, C Snow, that Hardy worked with:
A mathematicians apology is, if read with the textual attention it deserves, a book of haunting sadness. Yes, it is witty and sharp with intellectual high spirits: yes, the crystalline clarity and candor are still there: yes, it is the testament of a creative artist. But it is also, in an understated stoical fashion, a passionate lament for creative powers that used to be and that will never come again. I know nothing like it in the language: partly because most people with the literary gift to express such a lament dont come to feel it: it is very rare for a writer to realize, with the finality of truth, that he is absolutely finished.
Hardy was a sort of purist mathematician, one who did his mathematics not for the sake of its applicability to anything, but for the sake of doing great mathematics. Hardy, along with Littlewood and Ramanujan, is also mentioned in Apostolos Doxiadis "Uncle Petros and the Goldbach Conjecture". The link above gives a short summary on his life.

Flux over at PowerWord:Gold decided to toss a contest out to all the folks that wanted to take a challenge. Always loving a contest, I rocked one of my favorite farming spots....Ascendants Rise in Hyjal.
Now this contest gave me interest.... Nothing about goldmaking, nothing about your AH, its all about two things. One, you need to use a Potion of Treasure Finding. Two, you have to vendor everything (well, at least get the vendor pricing) for all that you get from mobs.
So I broke down and did it. I used my rogue, but.....I didnt pickpocket on this run, although I originally thought about it, but due to the "return" on time, I decided not to.....For once, I actually farmed non-stop, no rest, no smoke breaks, no beer breaks. Not even a drink. Non-stop farming. And I was pleasantly surprised with the results.....
First off, I never picked this many Tiny Treasure Chests in an hour (21). Never. The rest of the drops seemed around normal. One thing.....In the midst of the hour, I never had to reset my slice and dice. Not once. Non-stop.....
The numbers to the right is just the loot dropped. Not factoring in any Tiny Treasure Loot, as that pic is below. Vendoring everything that dropped, I cleared just over 221g.
Remember, this does not count the gold looted from the mobs (which ended up at 147.5g in case you were wondering- and no blue or epix dropped, just greenies).

Tweakforce Releases Xtreme G 305 68 an All OS Driver
Tweakforce has released Xtreme-G 305.68, a tweaked GeForce driver. Whats peculiar about this release is that it has a version for each and every Windows OS starting with XP, something that Semp (the owner of the site) hasnt done in a long time.
This driver gave me a performance boost in a Lightsmark 2008 benchmark run. Also, its a boon for Darksiders 2 players looking for an antialiasing fix as the Darksiders 2 3D profile in this driver works---enabling FXAA smooths out all the jagged edges in the game (as of August 28 4am GMT+8 THQ has yet to fix this).
