Treat Your Power Cord Right!

Treat Your Power Cord Right!

This is Tech Leader Farzin. Today were going to show you how to keep your Asus netbook charger in good working order. All the time at the Help Desk, we see students come in with broken chargers, and when we look at the chargers, we see that theyve been shoved into backpacks without proper wrapping.

This causes the internal wires to fray. Students with AC adapters in this condition have to pay for new adapters. So, save yourself some money and wrap your charger the right way. Well also show you how to do this for the other two kinds of chargers, so watch the video thats right for you.

Treat yourself to DB2 this holiday season

Treat yourself to DB2 this holiday season

Earlier this year, Oracle acquired MySQL. They have since significantly hiked up prices across the entire MySQL line. Today, it costs more to get a years subscription to MySQL than to simply get IBM DB2 Express Fixed Term License (FTL).

What surprises me is how much more value you get by going with IBM. DB2 is 60% cheaper than a comparable MySQL edition. You can set up a cluster of two DB2 servers for the price of one MySQL server and have change left over.

Keep in mind that MySQL Enterprise limits you to four processors, which is comparable to the DB2 Express limit of four cores across two processors.

DB2 Express FTL, which is built on exactly the same code as all IBM DB2 editions, comes with official IBM 24x7 Support, High Availability Disaster Recovery clustering, SQL replication, backup compression, Optim Development Studio, Optim Database Administrator, DB2 fixpacks, and access to older DB2 releases through IBM Passport Advantage.

Treat Your Battery Right

Treat Your Battery Right

Hi guys,

We get a lot of questions about netbook batteries here at the Help Desk.

Your battery has a lifespan, and it will eventually need to be replaced. Theres a lot of misinformation out there about batteries; if you go to ten different websites, you may get ten different types of advice.

The main thing is to develop good habits to extend the life of your battery. From our research, there are really four basic things you can do to for a battery like the one in your netbook. TL Sunny has the information:

Just to sum up...

1. Dont let your battery go all the way down to zero on a regular basis. Use it until it gets down to about 25%; then charge it up to 100%.

2. When your battery meter starts to get inaccurate, then go ahead and run it down to zero. Dont do this more than once a month.

3. Avoid heat! Heat will reduce the life of your battery. Dont leave your netbook in a car on a hot summer day.

4. If youre going to store your netbook over the summer, you can extend the life of the battery by running it down to about 40% and storing it in the fridge. For real!

Trick or Treat Beat

Trick or Treat Beat

Que tal um joguinho para comemorar o Halloween? Trick or Treat Beat um jogo meio antiguinho do Cartoon Network.

Have fun! o/

Pedras cinzas, cercas e gua, no.

A Tasty Treat

Dear friends,

Once in a while you need to satisfy the cravings of your tummy. And when you crave for the wonderful Dunkin Donuts and you cannot find them anywhere in Poland or Romania, when you will travel to Germany you will keep an eye open for them ;) Today is #traveltuesday and this is my last post about our trip - mine and my adorable husband - to Koln/Bonn, Germany.
I ate my first Dunkin Donut somewhere in the summer of 2007, in the wonderful USA - Atlantic City. I cannot remember the flavour but I remember the feeling of total surrender to the sweetness and fluffyness that filled my heart (ok... you can replace heart with mouth there if you wanna get visual). It became my treat each time I managed to do something impressive at work and so each time I would return and pick a different type/flavour. I love the ones with colorful sprinkles and that taste like strawberries - and that was exactly what I picked when I went to Koln to get my treat ;)
 ***
I could not leave the town without having it and I think I must have driven my husband and my best friend crazy trying to find a open DD during our last day ;)) but it was totally worth it and I loved every piece of it - you can see that on my face on the picture above! It was taken from a shop near the Dome but you can find DD shops almost everywhere in Koln so it is hard to miss them, if you know for what to look. I must admit that might make it on the MUST DO for Germany/Koln ;)))))
If you wish an overview of our Koln/Bonn trip, here are the articles/posts I wrote about that:
  • What Would You Visit In Koln - thoughts upon what one could see in Koln, ideeas at the beginning of the journey
  • Germany, Ich Liebe Dich - Koln/Cologne & Bonn through BB pictures + 2 dear pictures that my best friend Dana took :) - a short intro to our trip in Germany
  • The Flight Travel Bug - or how I love to fly and I am glad my husband choose Lufthansa for our trip to Koln/Cologne
  • Krakow-Cologne. How do I get there? - on how we managed to get from Poland to Germany: flight + ICE Train, and a little extra on the side: chinese food for dinner :)
  • A Dark And Gloomy Cathedral - a very extensive post on the awesomeness of the Cologne/Koln Cathedral. I fell in love with her at the first sight!
  • You Love Me. Real Or Not Real? - the wonderful Hohenzollern Bridge with its love locks, right next to the Koln Cathedral was a wonderful stop :)
  • A Walk Along The Rhein - a short stroll from the Hohenzollern Bridge to the Chocolate Museum, close to the  Severinsbrucke
  • 3D Golf - Now Thats Something New! - a little bit of our 3D party + a short detour at  Metzgerei & Salon Schmitz
  • Sweet And Quiet Bonn - more about our travels in Germany and the wonderful little town called Bonn, where the yumyum Haribo gummy bears come from :)
  • A Top Notch Bonn History Museum - the post about the wonderful German National Museum Of Contemporary History
** I wrote this post out of love and DD did not repay me in any way. But the taste of the donuts are totally worth it! They are the best ones I ever ate - except the ones made by my granny ;) **

Yours truly,
A LadyBug That Loves Dunkin Donuts :)
